Lloyd A. "Peanut" Riggle, Jr., 79, of Bethel Township, died Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at his home.
Born October 19, 1939, in Kittanning, he was a son of the late Lloyd A. Riggle, Sr. and Elizabeth M. (Klaput) Riggle.
He was a 1958 graduate of Ford City High School, and served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1963. Mr. Riggle retired from U.S. Steel after 24 years of service, and in 1992, entered lay ministry, serving as the pastor of Allegheny Presbyterian Church in Allegheny Township. Lloyd was a scoutmaster for 35 years with the Boy Scouts of America, and was a member of F&AM Seneca Lodge 805, Coudersport Consistory, and York Rite Bodies in Kittanning. He also achieved the 33rd degree in Free Masonry, and enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Betty A. "B.J." (McClymonds) Riggle; two sisters, Joan (Gary) Emmonds and Linda Walker; two brothers, John (Leah) Riggle and Thomas (Karen) Riggle; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marlene Hockenberry, and an infant brother, Jerry Joe Riggle.
Friends will be welcomed from 2-4 and 7-9, Saturday and Sunday, in the Welch Funeral Home, 1032 Fourth Avenue, Ford City, and from 10-11 a.m., Monday, in Appleby Manor Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will follow in the church at 11 a.m., with Rev. Marty Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
