Annabelle Hamilton, 91, of Ford City, died Friday, June 16, 2023, at Armstrong Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Kittanning.
She was born December 23, 1931, a daughter of the late L. Eugene and Ruth (Stubbs) Jamieson.
Annabelle graduated from Kittanning High School in 1949, and attended the First Baptist Church of Ford City.
Mrs. Hamilton retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, now the Farm Service Agency, after 32 years of service. She took an active role in the employee association at the state and national levels. Annabelle was secretary/treasurer, vice-president, and president at the state level and served as a national committeewoman for the ten northeastern states.
Her memberships included NASCOE, VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary, the Soroptimist Club, and the Red Hats. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Lynn Valyo and her husband, Denny, and two half-sisters, Jeannette and Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Sonny” Hamilton; her two grandchildren, Jason Charles and Heather Ann Valyo; sisters, Mary McCanna and Ruthie Shank; and a brother, Gerald Jamieson.
Friends will be welcomed from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at Welch Funeral Service, LLC, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the First Baptist Church of Ford City, with Pastor Robert French officiating. There will be additional visitation at the church one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington.
