Anthony Wayne Schmela

Anthony Wayne Schmela, 77, of Kittanning, died Friday, November 29, 2024 in the Kittanning Health and Rehab Center.

He was born October 28, 1947 in Greenville, SC, son of John and Lillian P. (Yount) Chmela .

Mr. Schmela formerly attended the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church, Kittanning.  He retired from Eljer Plumbingware as a caster after 39 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, grafting fruit trees, woodworking. He was a great husband, father and grandfather and was a friend to  all his co-workers. He helped everyone he could and had a great personality always wanting to make people laugh.

Surviving are his wife Doris (McCollim) Schmela of Kittanning, one son, Patrick Schmela of Kittanning, one daughter, Crystal Hankey of Ford City, one step daughter, Jill (Brad) Dunmire of Kittanning, five grandchildren, Brooke Hankey, Westley Hankey, Johanna Schmela, Bailey Crissman and Sydney Dunmire, 2 great grandchildren, two sisters, Melanie Petrosky and Suzanne Troup.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, one son, John Schmela, one step daughter, Molly Adams and step son, Barney Painter, one sister Lillian Atwood and one brother Ralph Garmong.

Friends will be welcomed at the Welch Funeral Service LLC., 1032 Fourth Avenue, Ford City, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. and where services will be held on Thursday,
 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Curt Sirwell, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Ford City Cemetery.
