Audrey Ann Drumm Obituary

Audrey Ann (Krebs) Drumm, 93, of Kittanning Township, went to be with her husband of 62 years, Denny Sr., on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family.  She passed away from non-COVID issues, because she was not afraid to be vaccinated.

She had a full life with her three sons: Denny Jr, Richard and Michael.  She was born on May 15, 1928, in Erie PA, to the late Raymond Krebs and Marion (Jant) Krebs.

She had many jobs in her youth, of which she told us, “I don’t remember how I got those jobs, I just seemed to find them.”  She was a babysitter, soda jerk, and bucker for “Rosie the Riveter”, building airplanes during World War II, among others. After the war she worked at a GE Plant in Erie, building Hot Point and GE stoves, where she met her husband. Moving to this area around 1965 to a farm, they renovated the old farmhouse and had various animals: old horses, sheep, chickens, ducks and geese.  She and her husband were very active in foster childcare, providing a loving temporary home for more than 250 newborns and infants during a 40-year time span, servicing six different agencies in Western Pennsylvania. She enjoyed gardening and canning the harvest. She was a member of the Armstrong County area REACT from 1987 to 1999, helping with traffic control for many public activities, such as parades and festivals. Many people remember her feeding the deer behind the house and having them eat out of her hand.

When she first moved here, she was a member of the Heilman’s Lutheran Church on Garretts Run Road, and she then became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ford City.

She is survived by two of five siblings: Ruth (Krebs Maines) Deplachett and Alice (Krebs) Chipley of Erie; three sons, Denny E. Drumm Jr., of Kittanning Township, Richard K. Drumm of Kittanning Township, and Michael T. Drumm and his wife, Melanie, of East Brady; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by many and missed by all.

Friends and family will be received from noon to 1:45 p.m., Saturday January 22, 2022, at Welch Funeral Service, LLC, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday, in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ford City, with the Rev. Richard Grance officiating. Due to COVID, the family is requiring masks for all guests at visitation and services. Private interment will take place at Emmanuel Heilman Lutheran Cemetery, Kittanning. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made in Audrey's name to Orphans of the Storm, P.O. Box 838, Kittanning, PA 16201 or to Progressive Workshop of Armstrong County, attn.
