Bernice Elizabeth Klingensmith, 89, of Ford Cliff, PA, died Thursday, August 8, 2024, at The Ridge at Heritage Meadows.
She was born January 3, 1935, in Bethel Township, to the late Burton and Blanche (Kerr) Klingensmith.
Bernice was a member of the Crooked Creek United Presbyterian Church. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of Pittsburgh and her M.Ed. degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She was an English and Spanish teacher at Kiski Area High School, where she sponsored the senior class plays, retiring after 36 years of teaching. She had been at Kiski Area for 29 years, having previously taught at Elderton High School and Westinghouse High School.
She is survived by her nephew, Robert B, Deemer of Ford City.
Bernice was preceded in death by father, Burton Klingensmith, mother, Blanche Kerr.
Friends will be welcomed from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at Welch Funeral Service, LLC, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Crooked Creek United Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Marty Neal officiating. There will be additional visitation at the church beginning one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Crooked Creek Presbyterian Cemetery.
