Betty L. (Stitt) Rush, 95, of Kittanning, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021, in ACMH Hospital, East Franklin Township.
Born August 24, 1926, in Ford City, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Hazel (Anthony) Stitt.
Betty worked as an office manager for Dr. Harry Thompson. She then assisted Dr. Philip A. Gelacek with opening his practice, and continued to manage the office until her retirement in 1989.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ford City, and Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 277.
Riding horses was one of her favorite pastimes, and she loved her annual family vacations to Ocean City, Maryland. More than anything, her family was most important to her. Nobody ever went to her house without her cooking for them.
She is survived by her children: William H. Rush (Theresa Rupp), Robert C. Rush (Ellen), Barry L. Rush (Kimberly), and Bambi L. Toy; her grandchildren, Kevin Rush (Jamie), Kirk Rush (Jackie), Tessa Stuart (Jimmy), Jada Mechling (Chad), Brodie Toy (Jesse), Britta Toy, Kayla McGregor (Joe), and Matthew Rush; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Shirley Santepol; her former daughter-in-law, Lia Rush (Joe); and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Rush, who died May 27, 1997; a brother, Wesley Stitt; a sister, Joyce Smathers; an infant sister, Jean Stitt; a son-in-law, Plummer Toy, Jr.; and a daughter-in-law, Patty Rush.
Friends will be welcomed from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, at Welch Funeral Service, LLC, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday. Interment will follow in Christ (Rupp) Church Cemetery. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.welchfh.com.
