Brenda J. Salsgiver, 69, of Kittanning, passed away unexpectedly, while recovering from recent surgeries, on May 16, 2024, in Allegheny Valley Hospital.
She was born January 17, 1955, to the late Raymond and Reba (Smeltzer) Shaul.
A devout Christian, church life was something very dear to her. She was an active member of Living Water Church in Kittanning, where she volunteered in numerous groups, including the widows’ group, the 412 children’s ministry, Kids Church, and Royal Family Kids Camp. Brenda was also the coordinator for the church’s food pantry, and volunteered with the Armstrong County Food Bank for many years. She was also a familiar face in other local churches: Alliance Church, where she was involved in mission work and bible studies; the New Life Center, where she attended a support group, and the Catholic Church, where she joined a prayer group.
Known to enjoy singing, she cherished her involvement with the church choir at the First Church of God for many years. She would often be spotted cycling with her beloved dog in tow. She also enjoyed traveling, drinking coffee, playing cards, doing puzzles, reading, and going on countryside car rides. She took great pleasure in helping others and loved to laugh.
Brenda is survived by two daughters: Jennifer Salsgiver of Kittanning, and Michelle Wolfe (Brook) of Conowingo, MD; four grandchildren, Audrey, Phoebe, Jonathan, and Victor; a sister, Leslie Hooks (Joseph) of Rural Valley; and two brothers: David Shaul (Linda) of Worthington, and Robert Shaul (Barb Emmonds) of Ford City.
Friends will be welcomed from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at Welch Funeral Service, LLC, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Living Water Church, 629 Woodward Ave. Kittanning, with Pastor Andrew Laddusaw officiating. Additional visitation will begin at the church one hour prior to start of services. Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Living Water Church, Kittanning, or Royal Family Kids Camp - For the Children Armstrong.
