Darlyn A. Barnett, 76, of Kittanning, died Thursday, January 21, 2021, in UPMC Altoona.
Born September 2, 1944, in Virginia, she was a daughter of the late James L. Barnett II and Gladys (Bellas) Barnett.
She was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kittanning.
Darlyn graduated from Kittanning High School, and then earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Grace College in Winona Lake, IN. She was a second grade teacher in the Griffith, Indiana City Schools. Ms. Barnett loved teaching, and passed on her passion to many student teachers by serving as an advisor to them as the prepared for their own careers in education.
Her pastimes included reading and doing crossword puzzles, and she traveled all over the world. More than anything, she loved helping others, especially the needy.
Darlyn is survived by a brother, James L. (Donna) Barnett of Warren, OH; 11 nieces and nephews; and 7 great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Barry H. Barnett and Michael Barnett, and her very best friend, Sarah J. Bracker.
Due to COVID-19, the family held viewing and services privately. Father Jonathan Rosnick officiated. Interment was made at Kittanning Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kittanning. Arrangements were entrusted to the Welch Funeral Home, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City.
