Darwin F. Haught, 78, of Worthington, died Friday, January 5, 2024, in the ACMH Hospital surrounded by his wife Lynn and daughter and son-in-law Lori and Barry Meyer.
He was born November 5, 1945, in Terra Alta, WV, son of the late Archie M. and Debby Pauline (Williston) Haught.
Darwin was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Kittanning. For 25 years, he served as a Pennsylvania State Trooper in Kittanning, where he mostly worked in criminal investigation. He was a member of the Waynesburg High School wrestling team, that had won 52 matches in a row. From 1981 to 1989, he coached the wrestling team at Elderton High School, where he also helped in starting the Junior Olympic Wrestling Program.
He was a member of the Brady Paul Lodge #54 of the FOP.
Darwin enjoyed hunting, fishing canoeing, boating, hiking and gardening. He finished the interior of his former home in Waynesburg, PA.
Surviving are his wife, Lynn D. (Wright) Haught of Worthington; his children: Mark (Carrie) Haught of Rising Sun, MD, Rita (Ken) Hagofsky of Kittanning, Melody (Duane) Silvis of Kittanning, Lori (Barry) Meyer of Kittanning, and Jay (Lisa) Haught of Georgia; grandsons, Mark Haught II and Matthew Haught; granddaughters, Courtney Meyer and Bethany Yackmack; a great-grandson, Axel Yackmack; a sister, Shirley Goozdoch; and a brother, Ronald Haught. He is also survived by his fur babies Sydney, Sophie and Sammie who he enjoyed spoiling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Haught, and a sister, Marian Hoy.
