Dora Maxine Rupp

Dora Maxine Rupp, 88, formerly of Ford City, died Friday, May 30, 2025, at Heritage Meadows.

Born December 20, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Lucinda (Stitt) Schall.

She was a 1955 graduate of Ford City High School.  Though having been employed by PPG and Michael’s Restaurant earlier in her life, she was most known for her work at Jamesway, and later, Trader Horn, where she was a familiar face for many years.  Maxine was also a member of the Manor Township Fire Dept. Auxiliary. 

She was lifelong active member of Emmanuel Heilman Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.  Maxine enjoyed baking, gardening, and camping with her children in her younger years, but spending time with family was most important to her.

She is survived by her daughter, LuEllen (Jim) Vulgan; her two grandsons, Michael Buzzinotti and Matthew (Ashley) Buzzinotti; two sisters, June McElwain and Betty Lou Pore; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Rupp; her son, Kevin Rupp; and three sisters, Reatha Carney, Joanne Haneke, and Delores May Schall.

The family would like to thank Tim and Erin Graham and the entire staff of Heritage Meadows for the wonderful care they provided for Maxine during her stay there.

Friends will be welcomed from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at Welch Funeral Service, LLC, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Emmanuel Heilman Lutheran Church.  There will be additional visitation at the church beginning one hour prior to service.  Interment in Emmanuel Heilman Lutheran Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Heilman Lutheran Church.  To share memories or condolences, please visit www.welchfh.com.
