Ernest "Ernie" G. Reich, 78, of Kittanning, died Monday, June 19, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family, in the comfort of his home.
Born November 15, 1944, in Kittanning, he was a son of the late Conrad G.F. and Anna (Venesky) Reich.
Ernie graduated from Ford City High School in 1962, then attended Penn State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a supervisor for U.S. Steel for 25 years, then retired from Eljer Plumbingware, where he also served as a supervisor. Ernie belonged to the Kittanning Elks and Ford City Eagles. He was a life member of Ford City Hose Company No. 1, for which he served as president for several years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, doing home improvement projects, and cooking; but spending time with family and friends was what he loved most.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Frederick) Reich; his daughters: Sandra Reich (Joseph Mattos) of Kittanning, and Amanda Riskosky (Joseph) of Kittanning; his grandson, Kiefer Riskosky of Kittanning; two stepdaughters, Nikkala Shumaker (Michael) of Kittanning, and Kari Waitt (Dani) of Plum; his step-grandchildren, Jon, Olivia, Bella, Karter, Sophia, Kiptyn, and Emma; and a brother, Donald Reich of West Middlesex.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Reich.
Ernie's family will celebrate his life with a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AHN Hospice, Office of Fund Development, Hospice and Palliative Care, 4818 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
