Evelyn M. Ion, 72, of Ford Cliff, passed away June 24, 2008 at her residence.Evelyn was born October 5, 1935 in Gallia County, OH, daughter of Raymond Saxon and Thelma (Denny) Saxon.Evelyn was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Ford City. She retired in 1996 from the Housekeeping Department of the Armstrong County Memoiral Hospital..Evelyn enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren.Surviving are husband, Delton R. Ion of Ford Cliff whom she married Feb. 8, 1959,, son, Delton (Melinda) Ion of Kittanning, son, James Ion of Ford Cliff, son, Christopher (Pam) Ion of Gaithersburg, MD, son, Thomas (Diane) Ion of Leechburg, daughter, Teresa (Scott) Byrd of Silver City, NM, brother, Carroll Saxon of Gallipolis, OH, brother, Robert Saxon of Gallipolis, OH, Everett Saxon, Cinncinatti, OH, 10 Grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren .Evelyn was preceded in death by father, Raymond Saxon, mother, Thelma , son, Terry S. Ion who died Dec. 23, 1997 and several brothers and sisters .Friends will be received at the at the Welch Funeral Home, Ford City, on Thursday, June 26, 2008. from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pmServices will be held at the Welch Funeral Home on Friday at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend Allen Ion, officiating.
