Fred Samuel Delp, 86, of Cadogan, passed away on March 16, 2024, at AHN-Wexford.
Born May 5, 1937, in Cadogan, he was a son of Samuel Clyden and Mary Elizabeth (Guthrie) Delp.
For 60 years, he was married to the love of his life, Karen Ruth Troup. They were married June 15, 1963, at the Cadogan Union Church.
He retired from the Air Force after serving in U.S. Army and Air Force for over 22 years. His overseas tours of duty were in Turkey and Pakistan. Fred then retired from the County of Armstrong after being employed at the Area Agency on Aging and the Emergency Management Agency.
He was an avid reader and computer operator. He also enjoyed watching the Pirates and Steelers on television, researching the family tree and gathering photos of family. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, horseshoes, and shooting pool. He really enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Fred is survived by his wife, Karen Delp of Cadogan; his daughter, Stacy Delp of Cadogan; his son, Sean (Abigail) Delp of Cadogan; his grandchildren, Samuel and Josie Delp; a sister, Ruth Baker of Northeast; four brothers: Bud (Carol) Delp of Kittanning, Clyde (Donna) Delp of Butler, Wayne Delp of Erie, and James Delp of Hinesville, GA; and many other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Green and Betty Klingensmith, and a brother, Jerry Delp.
Friends and family will be welcomed from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, at the Welch Funeral Service LLC, 1032 Fourth Avenue, Ford City, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating.
