Gloria F. Arco, 87, of Plum (formerly of Ford City), died Sunday, October 26, 2025, in her home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born February 12, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Mary (McCain) Greene.
She grew up in Ford City and graduated from Ford City High School in 1956. She married B. Victor Arco on June 11, 1960. She moved to Plum in September 1960 and resided in her home until her death.
Gloria worked at the Parental Stress Center, where she was more than a devoted employee. She was passionate about her work and a loyal friend. She looked forward to their get-togethers in the years after her retirement.
Gloria was, above all else, a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Her children and their children were her world and her pride and joy. Gloria loved to cook, and boy, could she cook! Family meals were an event. Family vacations at the beach were something she looked forward to. She was always good for a laugh. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She obsessed over what gift to purchase for each person. Her house became magical over the holidays. She loved music, especially jazz and The American Songbook, and enjoyed going to the symphony.
Gloria was a devoted caregiver; in fact, her son-in-law referred to her as “Gloria Nightengale”. She was also a beloved aunt and cherished friend and mom to the neighborhood kids.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, B. Victor Arco, and her sister, Lois Reese, who affectionately called her “her baby sister”.
She is survived by three children, Susan Rich (Corey), Chris Arco (Andrea), and Jeff Arco (Debbie); four grandchildren, Travis Dodds (Lindsay), Nicole Rich (Chris Sweitzer), Natalie Rich, and Pilar Arco; and two great-grandchildren, Eller Dodds and Wesley Dodds.
