James E. Swartz, 56, of Ford City, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 1, 2024.
Born May 27, 1968, in Erie, he was a son of the late James and Karen (Burdett) Swartz.
He was employed as a carpenter for Nature’s Blend, retiring after 30 years of service.
Jim was a member of The Beagle Club. He enjoyed cooking, and was very involved with fundraising for the Cadogan community and the Armstrong High School football team. He loved riding with Revay, fishing, hunting, going to his camp, woodworking, and working in his garden. Known to be a very social person, Jim Facetimed everybody every day, and he was good at making friends. An avid sports lover, he never missed any of his nieces’ and nephews’ sporting events. He also loved going to the Steelers training camp.
He met his wife, Jennifer (Milligan), in 2012, and they were married on December 31, 2017. She survives. Jim is also survived by his son, Hunter Swartz; two sisters: Kelli (Mark) Jones and Tracey Swartz (partner, Dean Waugaman); two brothers: Scott (Patricia) Swartz and Chad (Tiffany) Swartz; nieces and nephews: Kurtis Jones, Lyndsey Keen, Justin Waugaman, Bo Swartz, Lou Swartz, Hannah Miller, Rocco Swartz, Gemma Swartz, Raife Swartz, Riley McLaughlin, Aiden McLaughlin, Greyson Milligan, and Tatum Milligan; his father-in-law, and mother-in-law, James and Patricia “Momzee” Milligan, and their children, Heather (Stan) Derise and James (Becky) Milligan; his beloved dogs, Lucy and Finney; and many friends.
Friends will be welcomed from 4-8 p.m. Monday, at Welch Funeral Service, LLC, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with The Very Rev. Eric J. Dinga, V.F., officiating. Interment will follow in McVille Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to “Saving Dreams”.
