He was born June 13, 1952, in Bremerton, WA, son of James Empfield and Matilda (Makin) Dickson.  His father, James, was killed in action in Korea on his first day of active service.

Jim was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church, Kittanning.  He retired as a service manager from several auto dealerships. He was a former member of both the Kittanning Elks and Eagles.

Jim loved going to auto shows and loved "muscle cars."  He really loved his "happy place" in Wattersonville.  He was a member of the Quarterback Club of Kittanning and coached his daughter's softball team. He enjoyed hunting and other adult sports, being outdoors, boating and Harley Davidson Motorcycles.

Surviving are his mother, Matilda Dickson of Greensburg, his wife, Laura L. (Jones) Dickson, his children, Sean (Deanna) Dickson of Templeton,  Aaron Dickson of Maryville, TN, Emily (Britt) Dickson of Denver, CO,  and Kyle Dickson of Kittanning,  8 grandchildren and 5 siblings, Dave (Renee) Dickson of Washington, PA, Barbara (Charlie) Parnell of CO,  Cathy (Fred) Alamade of FL., Robert (Linda) Dickson of Greesnburg and Susan (Kim) Houser of Greensburg.

Jim was preceded in death by his fathers, James Empfield and Blair Dickson.

According to Jim's wishes there will be no visitation or service as this time. There will be a Celebration of Life service later this summer in Wattersonville.  His arrangements are being handled by the Welch Funeral Service LLC, 1032 Fourth Avenue, Ford City, PA.
