James P. "Duck" Schawl, Sr.

James P. ‘Duck” Schawl Sr., 64, of Kittanning Township, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022, at ACMH Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents George E. Schawl and Betty Wilson. Jim was born April 9,1958, in Kittanning PA. He graduated from Kittanning High School and later attended Rosedale Tech.

He spent most of his working life employed as a mechanic. He was always working on something and loved cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed cooking, grocery shopping, spending time with friends and family. He loved going to yard sales, flea markets and any place that had a deal. He enjoyed the outdoors fishing picnics and wildlife.

He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his sons: James P. Schawl II, and Glenn E. Schawl (Jen); his granddaughter, Morgan Schawl; his brothers: George (Connie) Schawl and Dennis Schawl;  his sisters: Amy (Poodie) Raymer and Becky Swank; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 9th 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00PM at the Welch Funeral Service LLC,1032 4th Ave, Ford City, PA 16226. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. There will be a luncheon afterwards at St. John's Church beside the funeral home; covered dishes are welcome.
