Josephine Russell

Josephine Russell, 91, of Ford City, passed peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at The Ridge at Heritage Meadows.

She was born October 15, 1933, in Kittanning to Idella Andrews, and was raised by her grandparents, Wiley and Carrie Lee Andrews, and her aunts, Alice Ware, Eliza Johnson, and Johnnie Brundidge. 

Mrs. Russell was an active member of her church, the former Philips CME Church, where she served as a former Sunday school superintendent. She retired from the Armstrong County Housing Authority on January 31, 1995, after 32 years of meritorious service as the financial officer. She was a former member of Easter Seals and served on the board of directors of the Mental Health and Retardation Association.

Josephine was an avid reader and enjoyed holiday family meals, bowling and traveling.

She is survived by a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, grandparents and aunts, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Russell, and her son, Rev. Timothy Russell.

Jo's quick wit and generosity will be deeply missed by her family and friends. 

Josephine's family extends sincere thanks to the staff of Ridge at Heritage Meadows and Amedisys Hospice for their daily care and compassion.
