Loretta Hrabovsky Obituary

Loretta Marie (Novak) Hrabovsky

Loretta passed suddenly on July 30, 2021 while doing what she loved....volunteering at Saint Vincent de Paul’s thrift store in Kittanning.

She was born to Alexander and Wilhelmina (Reitinger) Novak on January 4, 1937 in Ford City. A 1954 graduate of Ford City High and 1957 graduate of of Butler County Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Loretta worked as a registered nurse at Armstrong County Memorial for 43 years - retiring in 2001. She never hesitated to offer nursing assistance to family and friends....and most of Ford City!! She instituted the Health Ministry Program at Christ Prince of Peace Parish and in 2012 received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Armstrong County Health Consortium.

She married Jim Hrabovsky on August 29, 1959, and they raised their family on Seventh Avenue in Ford City. She cared for him throughout his cardiac illness until he passed away on May 5, 2005.

On April 1, 1987, Loretta became a grandmother for the first time, and this became her most beloved role. Affectionately known as “Gaga”, her happiest times were spent loving her grandchildren to pieces. She found out just two weeks ago that her fifth great grandchild is due on her birthday, January 4th.

Loretta was a regular morning mass attendee at Christ Prince of Peace where she also served as lector and extraordinary minister of Holy Communion. She inaugurated the Eucharistic Adoration program that continues there today. Every Friday, she looked forward to her volunteer shift at Saint Vincent’s.

She loved to read and knit, and enjoyed making dishcloths to give as gifts. She made hundreds for her three granddaughters’ wedding shower favors.

Her vision had declined recently due to macular degeneration, but she still found ways to serve others...visiting friends who were home bound, and scheduling meals for the Knights of Columbus. She was never without a charitable task, and left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of spending time with her.

Loretta is survived by her four children: Christine Sincavage (Joseph), Connie Hrabovsky, David Hrabovsky ( Jennifer), and Cara Voss (Kyle). She was predeceased by an infant son, Douglas, in 1968.

She also has 4 grandchildren: Caroline Plocki (Alex), Rosemary Creter (Ryan), Julianna Judy ( Ryan), and Joseph Sincavage and 4 great grandchildren, Sydney, Connor, Naomi, and William.

She leaves behind a sister, Barbara Vigrass ( Richard), as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive visitors from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Christ Prince of Peace Parish, with Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00 a.m., with Father Eric Dinga officiating. Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Christ Prince of Peace Parish, 718 Fourth Avenue, Ford City, PA  16226 or The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul,123 Market St. Kittanning PA 16201.  Arrangements are entrusted to Welch Funeral Service LLC, Ford City.
