Mary Alice O’Neil, 91, of Ford City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at ACMH Hospital.
Born January 11, 1934, in Ford City, she was a daughter of the late J. William F. Campbell and Mary Alice (Mansberry) Campbell.
Mary retired from Armstrong County Community Action Agency, where she served as the food bank coordinator for many years. She had served as secretary for Frances Dance Club. A loyal and dedicated Kiwanian, she and Janet Cowan traveled to many Kiwanis conventions together. An avid traveler, she saw all 50 states, completing that mission on October 28, 2023. To say she enjoyed cruising would be an understatement. After having sailed on 14 cruises, she became a platinum member of Carnival Cruise Lines. On one particular cruise, she received an award for being the oldest passenger on board. Mary also loved fostering cats. All this aside, Mary was probably most well-known for her quick wit and joke telling.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Colton, of Ford City; her grandchildren: Brian Colton (Kerrie Card) and Greg Colton (Bobbie Lavender); five great-grandchildren: Nikki (Brock) Womer, Kaylee Lavender, Christian Kowalski, Lexi Kowalski, and Nick Kowalski; a great-great-grandson, Raymond Hunter; and many nieces and nephews from surrounding areas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William O’Neil; her son, Jeff, on November 22, 2005; brothers: Jack and William Campbell; and her sister, Winifred Campbell.
Friends will be welcomed on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 3 p.m., until the time of services at 7 p.m., at Welch Funeral Service, LLC, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City. Rev. Carl Johnson will officiate the service. Interment in Ford City Cemetery.
