Mary Elizabeth Potter, 90, of West Leechburg, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2025, in the Platinum Ridge Center, Brackenridge. She was born March 24, 1935, in Altoona, Pa., daughter of William and Margaret E. (Dean) Helser. Mary was a member of the United Methodist Church and was formerly active with the Methodist Women of the Ford Memorial United Methodist Church, Ford City, where her husband, served as pastor. She enjoyed doing crafts and taking care of her grandchildren, Sarah and Michael. Surviving are her children: William Merle (Cindy) Potter, of Tuckerton, N.J., Robert James (Nancy) Potter, of Murrysville, M. Lynn (Barry) Norlander, of Freeport and Thomas E. Potter, of West Leechburg; grandchildren: Kerri Potter, Cortney Rasmussen, Timothy Potter, ,Robert Centeno, Michael Roseanne Linko Potter, Sarah (Joshua) Potter, Allison Norlander, Eric (Emily) Norlander and William and Cindi Potter; and great-grandchildren, Andrew Potter and Nickolas Rasmusson. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, the Rev. Dr. Merle I. Potter, whom she married Dec. 19, 1953, and died Jan. 1, 2011. Visitation and services will be private. Interment will take place in the Alto Reste Park, Altoona, Pa. Mary’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Welch Funeral Service, LLC.
