Richard J. "Dick" Carli Obituary

Richard J. “Dick” Carli, 92, of West Kittanning, passed away on June 11, 2024, in his home.

Born September 4, 1931, in Kittanning, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Rafaella (Mazzotta) Carli.

In his younger years, he had his own radio show.  He was the manager of Brown’s Boot Shop in Kittanning for many years.  After retirement from Brown’s, he worked for Abranovic’s Associates, Annie Hawk, and was a sales representative for Antioch Publishing.

Dick was a devout Catholic, and a member of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church in Cadogan, where he served as a lector and Eucharistic minister.  He was also a member of the Latin American Club in Ford City and the B.P.O.E. #203 in Kittanning.

He had a big heart, and was kind and generous to everyone he knew. He loved entertaining his friends and family. Dick was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed golfing, playing softball, and bowling.   He also liked reading and was known to be a great handyman. Spending winters in Florida every year was another of his pleasures in life.  He enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, cooking, baking, and listen to Andrea Bocelli.  He exercised three days a week up until his passing.  His daughters were very devoted to helping and enjoyed their daily visits with him.

He is survived by two daughters: Elaine (Jim) Long and Linda (Tony) Kotyk; sons: Richard (Jacki) Kensky and Tom Schrecengost; his grandchildren: Andrew Kotyk, Janelle Kotyk, Jamie Douglas, Jason (Jessica) Long, Brandon (Courtney) Long, Alyssa (Mike) Bryant, and Heather Rae Stock; and his great-grandchildren: Lydia Long, Cooper Long, Garrett Long, Kash Kotyk, and Khalessia Kotyk.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Grace, who he took care of for three years.

At Mr. Carli’s request, a private Mass was celebrated at St. Lawrence Church, Cadogan, with interment following in Guardian Angel Cemetery.  He requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Divine Redeemer School.  Arrangements were entrusted to Welch Funeral Service, LLC, Ford City.  To share memories or condolences, please visit www.welchfh.com.
