Richard Walter Chimka, Sr., 79, formerly of Ford City, died Monday, January 10, 2022.
Richard was born in Ford City, and was a graduate of Ford City High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany in the early 1960’s. After serving his country, he moved to Florida, following the girl of his dreams, who was attending nursing school in Orlando, FL. Richard found employment at the Kennedy Space Center as a computer analyst during the Apollo missions and continued his career until after the last space shuttle mission.
His retirement days were filled with the love and joy of his grandchildren; Hannah, Dylan, Jacob and Sofia and his great-grandchildren; Jadin, Julian, Jaynee and Alex.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Henrietta Chimka, and his son, Jason Chimka.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret (Manenski) Chimka of Titusville, FL; his son Richard Chimka, Jr., and his wife Jennifer of Ford City; his daughter, Sara Robinson of Cocoa, FL; and his sisters, Patricia Bauwin, Betty Chimka, Lia Rush and Stacy Sharrer.
