Ruth E. Berrett

Ruth E. Berrett, 84, of Ford City, died Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in UPMC St. Margaret.

Born November 5, 1937, she was a daughter of the late George and Helen (Grafton) Walker.

Ruth was a very familiar face at Andy’s Supermarket, where she worked as a cashier for many years.

She was a member of the Bethel Township Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary.  She enjoyed reading, bingo, crocheting, doing word search puzzles, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.  Every year, she looked forward to the annual Christmas Eve celebration with the entire family.

She is survived by her children: John (Brenda) Berrett of Ford City, Jacqueline (David) Kowalczyk of Ford City, and Timothy (Teresa) Berrett of Vandergrift; her grandchildren, Ashley, Chelsea, Caleb, Lucas, Cassandra, Jeremy, Lee, and Rob; and 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William John “Jack” Berrett, and two brothers, Pete and Glenn Walker.

Viewing and services will be held privately for her immediate family.  Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Welch Funeral Service, LLC, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City.  To share memories or condolences, please visit www.welchfh.com.
