Sally Jane (Welch) Philip

Sally Jane "Bess" (Welch) Philip, 84, of Hilton Head Island, SC (formerly of Ford City), passed away April 13, 2023, at her residence.

She was born May 16, 1938, in Ford City, the daughter of the late Wendell A. and Dorothy (Blue) Welch.

Sally was a graduate of Ford City High School in 1956. She went to pursue nursing at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, where she met the love of her life, Dr. James Philip. They married in 1960.

After incredibly fulfilling careers, they moved to Hilton Head Island in 1995. Bess gave her entire life to serving others as a nurse and friend. She enjoyed golfing, cooking and quilting. She was a kind and caring soul.

She is survived by her husband, James Philip of Hilton Head Island, SC; her son, Jeff (Lori) Philip of Cincinnati, OH; her daughter, Alison (Scott) Delisio of Cleveland, OH; her grandchildren, Andrew, Allie, Zachary, and Jake; and her brother, Robert D. (Marlene) Welch of Cowansville.

Friends will be welcomed on Sunday, from 1-3 p.m., at Welch Funeral Service, LLC, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City.  A service will follow at 3 p.m., with Pastor Randy Herbe officiating.  Interment in Ford City Cemetery, Manor Township.  To share memories or condolences, please visit www.welchfh.com.
