Virginia Louise (Walker) Dawson, 93, of Ford City, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
She was born in Ford City, Pa. on September 6, 1931, to Frank and Florence (Stitt) Walker. She married Albert W. Dawson, Jr., on September 6, 1953.
Virginia was a devoted mother to her sons, taking them to church every Sunday. She spent several years caring for her husband at home before he died. She faithfully attended the First Church of Ford City, and will be missed by her congregation.
Virginia and her husband enjoyed traveling, going on several bus tours and traveling extensively throughout the US by RV, visiting every state except for Hawaii. She preferred walking to Ford City businesses and could be seen on the bike trail checking the lending libraries for books. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Albert, who died October 20, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Richard and Melvin, and sister, Phyllis Swank.
Virginia is survived by her three sons, Blair (Mary Jane) Dawson of Kittanning, Mark Dawson of Cranberry Township, Jerry (Angie) Dawson of Austin Texas, grandsons Glen Dawson of Seattle Washington and Sam (Tara) Dawson of Austin Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Garnet (Thomas) Ludwick of Ford City, brother, Roger (Gloria) Walker of Freeport, sister-in-law, Karol Walker of Leechburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be welcomed from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, at Welch Funeral Service, LLC, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, with Pastor Randy Herbe officiating.
